Our Hawaii Home

Our little Hawaii house has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a den. Now that we are retired we plan to spend several months every winter and several months every summer enjoying the Hawaiian life style and spending time with our daughter Marah who lives there. We feel so lucky. Please enjoy the photos ...

The front of our house.
Here is the front of our house. Our community is called 'The Pines' and has 91 individual little houses, similar to ours. It is kind of like a condo except there are no common walls - each house is separate but with only one side yard. Our Association takes care of the outside of the house, water, trash and our private street.

Google Earth View of our house
Here is the Google Earth view of our house - just down the coast from the city of Kailua-Kona. Kona is the name of the district area and Kailua-Kona is the name of the main city on the west (leeward) side of the Big Island of Hawaii.

Our front entrance
As you come up to the front door you can see all the way through the house and out to the ocean from the side yard (on the left) as well as through the house itself.

The side yard is low maintenance.
Our little side yard is low maintenance.

Living Room
The main part of the house is one big room - living room, dining room and kitchen.

Living Room TV

Dining Area
The dining room is between the kitchen and the living room and has sliding doors leading to the side yard. We rarely eat here but we use the table for games and sewing.

Kitchen
The kitchen has great ocean views out through a big porch (called a lanai) that forms the back yard.

Master Bedroom
The master bedroom, with a queen bed, also opens onto the lanai with sliding glass doors and the great ocean view.

The Den
The den opens into the living room/dining room/kitchen area.

Lanai
The 30' by 12' covered lanai runs all along the back of the house. It has great ocean views and is where we eat most of our meals. The city of Kailua-Kona is just up the coast (you can see it behind the fence in this picture). We are on a small hill so we get the ocean breeze almost all the time - up through the lanai.

Winter Sunset
The sunset is right off our lanai and we try to eat dinner every night just before sunset. Almost once a week we are treated to a 'green flash.' We are spending several months here each year, during our retirement, with many hours of meals, reading and gyotaku (fish printing) on this great lanai. We hope many of our family and friends will come and visit.
