Janet's New Apartment at The Oaks 2006

Janet is so happy at 'The Oaks,' an independent living senior community. There are activities galore, shopping trips, exercise classes, lectures, and a dining room with some of the best food in town. Janet decided to downsize from the two bedroom unit she and Bill enjoyed so much. January 2006 was moving week and the move went very smoothly - with Janet's excellent foresight and planning almost everything had a place. All her daughters (Genny, Kim, Heidi, Jill) helped get her belongings to their new home - we missed brother Bill but it was a long commute for him to come from Kansas. Son-in-laws (Bob, Ron) provided the muscle. We were finished with the move early and could begin to enjoy her new apartment. Now she continues to enjoy the Oaks lifestyle.


Janet's New Shutters
Janet's bedroom is updated with gorgeous white shutters in August 2006. Thanks to son-in-law Bob for supervising and providing the finishing touches.


The Last Load
After four days of moving, Janet wheels in the very last load.

Janet invites us into her new apartment. Her front door faces a sunny atrium with azaleas and camelias.


The Living Room
Looking in from the front door you enter the living room with the cute fireplace. An outside porch is to the right beyond the living room.

Janet's new porch faces west so she has the afternoon sun to light up her apartment. There is a great view of some of the grassy areas of the arboretum that is next door. Her porch has a shade that she can adjust to block the sun if it is too strong.

Janet's Bedroom
The bedroom has plenty of room for a king sized bed. There is even a sitting area with pop out windows.

Janet has relocated some of her patio furniture to the front of her apartment - facing the atrium. Her setee is here where she often enjoys a cup of tea with a friend.


Bockus Brown Rules
Bockus brown is still in fashion with Janet ... all the Bockus family is looking forward to a family reunion this summer at Lake Arrowhead in memory of Bill Bockus, our husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, role model, and forever friend.
